RNG 101
Whether the form of waste is food, poultry manure, cow manure, pig manure, or a number of other things, the basic principles of waste digester to RNG remain the same. The waste is captured and pumped/funneled into a concrete or covered lagoon digester. As the waste breaks down, methane gas is released. The methane is then harnessed and upgraded via an on-site gas conditioning system. The upgraded methane becomes pipeline quality gas, and is either injected into an interstate pipeline right then and there, or it is loaded onto trucks for transportation to the virtual pipeline. This biogas is a clean, renewable energy source that has a number of applications, such as providing fuel for trucks and busses, heating homes, etc.
